"Ah, but haven't you ever thought that you'd like to stand out from the crowd when you're out in the evening?"
I shrugged. The thought had occurred to me more than once, but I certainly wasn't going to admit it at that precise moment.
I finished my coffee, immediately regretting that this prop was removed from me as a means to stall making a decision. Paula picked up her cup and took a mouthful of coffee, fixing me with her eyes as she drank. She lowered the cup and smiled.
"You could always phone a friend" she said.
"Okay" I replied.
"Okay, you're going to phone a friend or 'okay' we're doing this?"
"Okay, we're doing this, I think" I replied hesitantly.
"So are you happy with what we're doing, Amy ?"
