They also made their own milk from blanched almonds or soya beans and ate lots of fruit vege’s and nuts grown in their garden, hardly anyone in their family was ever sick. Papa was tragically taken by a drunk-driver who ploughed into his car nearly four years ago taking him and Mama instantly. Since immigrating to Australia from Italy, when Zach and Em were just toddlers, Papa had left hairdressing and had gone into construction, doing very well and ending up with his own project building company, where Mart had worked with Papa whilst studying architecture and was now owned by Zach. Mart and his family were fantastically supportive as they knew how dearly she loved her parents especially her Father, tied into that was her strong Christian faith in which she believed she’d see them again at “The Resurrection" as they were the ones who bought her up in the faith and Mart’s family’s beliefs were identical to hers, after all she met him, when he and his Mother had started attending their Church many years ago.
A gentle knock came on the door and a beautiful Lady, elegantly coiffed, manicured and made-up, in her late forties came in with a tray containing a large percolator, teapot, three mugs a plate of croissants and all the usual accompaniments, milk sugar, raspberry jam etc Em thought, this must be Jacqui and clearly she was this man’s wife, but seemingly very humble and soft spoken. She poured out three coffees and offered Em one of them which she took black with one sugar. Louis and Jacqui preferred tea it appeared. The coffee tasted superb with a slight hint of a nutty taste, slightly unusual but pleasant. After a nod from Louis, his wife departed and quickly returned with some folders of glossy hairstyle photos of models all seemingly cut, coloured and some permed by Louis or his wife. Most had makeup, some dramatic and some just noticeable. They all paged through them, made small talk and just generally bantered for a short while, drinking and eating the delicacies.
