“Well OK then, I could use a new cut again. A nice and short summer cut wouldn’t really be so bad with this heat."
“And you Anne, you promise to allow me to cut your hair as short as your mother’s, without opposing any resistance, do you agree?"
Anne nodded. After all it couldn’t get too bad. Her mother liked it short and practical, but she surely wouldn’t want to leave the salon as a punk, or with some other kind of weird haircut.
“I like your suggestion."
Mrs. Long sat on the chair next to Anne and let the hair dresser comb her hair.
“With which attachment shall we start, Mrs. Long?"
“Well I was thinking to have Anne’s hair cut with a ¼" attachment and to leave only some small bangs."
Anne clapped her hand onto her mouth for shock. How could her mother insist on cutting her hair so short? She’d become the laughingstock at school. No boy would give her a second look, and with her friends it would be the end, too.
“Yes, that’s a good choice; she surely won’t need a comb or brush any more, then."
